The ’80s was the time to be alive if you enjoyed arcade games. They were a great way to release some steam and you also got a way to spend some of those much-loved quarters you had. The 80s was considered the Golden Age of arcade games for a good reason – it was the period that put arcade games on the map. Below you will find a list of arcade games from the 1980s. 

  1. TRON: Bally Midway created this game in 1982 as a way to commemorate the creation of the move Tron that happened in that very same year. There are 4 subgames that take place according to the events seen in the movie as well. Not only that but there are also characters from the movie found in the game. 
  1. Centipede: Atari created Centipede in the year 1981 as a vertically oriented shoot-em-up game. In the game you defend yourself against scorpions, fleas, spiders, and you guessed it, Centipedes. 
  1. Defender: Created in the year 1981 by Williams Electronics Defender is a shooting game with 2D graphics. The story of the game takes place on a planet where players are required to destroy aliens to protect the astronauts who are stranded there.
